Dadasaheb Phalke Award for Vinod Khanna Posthumously                                  

Actor Vinod Khanna has been awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his contribution to cinema. Vinod Khanna is the 49th person to receive the award. The award was announced by Vinod Khanna, who has been awarded awards for over four decades. 

Vinod Khanna died on April 27, 2017, after suffering from ailments. Vinod Khanna had acted in many films including Amar Akbar Anthony and Khurbani in the late 1980s. Later, he returned to the industry and came to prominence in the film. 

Vinod Khanna's son tweeted that he was happy with the prize availability. "My father is proud to have won the highest civilian film award in the country," he said.
